Schemes

In pursuit of our vision of a Bar where disability is no barrier, Chambers will be key allies.

The Chambers and Mentorship team will work to build strong alliances with chambers around the country with the aim of creating Mini-Pupillage opportunities for our members, and forming two-way mentorship relationships for the mutual education of both Chambers and aspiring disabled barristers.

The first round of our Two-Way Mentorship Scheme launched in July 2022. We seek to offer the mutual benefit of a barrister mentor who can support an aspiring disabled barrister in their passage into the Bar, whilst giving the benefit of lived insight into how to manage disability both in its broadest sense, and in so far as it relates to individual’s needs.

Mini-Pupillage Scheme

Mini-Pupillages are still recognised as critical to the education of any aspiring barrister. For many chambers, an application for pupillage-proper would not progress beyond the sifting stage without mini-pupillages. For disabled aspiring barristers, they are a unique opportunity to observe the accessibility of the Bar, and what adjustments will ultimately be necessary for pupillage-proper.
