Schemes

In pursuit of our vision of a Bar where disability is no barrier, Chambers will be key allies.

The Schemes team works to build strong alliances with Chambers to run various initiatives aimed at supporting disabled aspiring barristers, such as mini-pupillages, mentorship, and mock interviews. Our aim is twofold: to help applicants gain insight into life at the Bar and enable Chambers to better understand accessibility and inclusion for their barristers, staff, and clients.

Mini-pupillages are critical to the education of any aspiring barrister. BDABar's mini-pupillage programme aims to provide aspiring disabled barristers with the opportunity to see the work barristers undertake, observe court hearings, and start building their own network with Bar professionals.

BDABar runs an annual Two-Way Mentorship Scheme for disabled aspiring barristers and practising barristers at the Bar. We seek to offer aspiring disabled barristers to gain support from practising barristers in pursuing a career at the Bar whilst allowing practising barristers to gain an insight into their mentee’s disabilities and the various hurdles that they encounter in their pursuit of a career at the Bar.
